5 Strategies to Help with an Empty Nest with Jo Clark

In today’s solo episode I’m exploring big transitions, specifically when entering the empty nest stage. Every single major life stage or transition that your child enters also means that you have one as well. I've experienced them all firsthand, so I know that they can be incredibly difficult and emotional. Tune in as I share my understanding about how your life can feel like it's suddenly turned upside down and chat about five strategies including:

Exploring or revisiting hobbies and interests. Creative activities such as visual arts, writing, dancing, joining a book club or gardening group.

Focusing on health and wellness. With newfound time, parents can establish regular exercise routines, adopt stress-management practices, and explore new nutritious recipes.

Reconnecting with partners and friends. This period is an opportunity to rekindle relationships that may have taken a backseat due to parenting demands.

Personal or professional development. Consider this transitional phase as a time for self-discovery and setting new goals.

Redesigning and repurposing home spaces. As children move out, parents can reimagine their living spaces to suit their current lifestyle.

It’s common to feel lost in this stage of life and it can be a hard and lonely time. I’ve experienced and navigated this transition myself, and through my work supporting other midlife women, I’ve seen firsthand how powerful and transformative mentoring can be. If you’re wanting to get to know yourself at a deeper level and get clarity on how the next stage of life could look for you, then my mentoring options are a great place to start.
